- Plugin: Adminimize. I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for the magic combo of plugins and themes to make the WordPress control panel friendlier for my client users before stumbling upon the fantastic Adminimize plugin. Here’s what it does:
- Simplifies the WordPress admin interface by user role, without having to install Role Manager or any additional plugins
- Hides or shows menu items
- Hides or shows elements on the “edit post” page
- Hides or shows the screen options dropdown
- Hides or shows the dashboard – and if you choose to hide it, you can redirect users to any other admin page instead.
- Hides or shows the ‘admin color scheme’ on the Profile page.
- And much more. It also combines very well with…
- Theme: Fluency2. The Fluency2 admin theme combines delish keyboard shortcuts, on-hover menu popouts, and a sleek, beautiful desgin that puts the default WP 2.7 admin theme to shame.
- Plugin: Hide Update Reminder. The simple yet essential Hide Update Reminder plugin hides the “update WordPress” message from everybody but the admin.
Now to find a plugin that allows me to brand the login panel and admin section without hacking Fluency2! Suggestions are extremely welcome… ![]()
